It all started when…
I suffered a financial setback after my divorce. My credit was negatively impacted; I couldn’t get approved for an apartment, I contemplated living in my car to save money. I quickly realized that I didn’t have a clear understanding of my finances. I had hit emotional and financial rock bottom, and I was embarrassed to ask for help.
It was a pivotal moment in my life. My inability to control my financial life affected my confidence, drive, mental well-being, and personal relationships.
Today, as CEO of HoneyBee, we provide tools for working Americans to manage their finances better because we all deserve to thrive without the distraction of financial distress. Going through financial challenges made me see how important it is to feel in control of your financial life. And it made me want to help others take control of theirs.
Creating a positive impact is part of HoneyBee's ethos. I've witnessed thousands of women share their stories and begin to take control of their financial lives. We should never forget how much power we hold.
I've had the opportunity to meet feminist icons like Gloria Steinem. She was a leader in the movement for women's rights in the 60s and beyond. Women like her have paved the way for all of us, and I'm eternally grateful.
When women share stories, we can bridge the gender gap in financial literacy and empower others to better themselves so that they can feel more confident and in control of money. The more stories we share, the more power we hold to become the best version of ourselves.
